Care:
Before planting, soak the pot in a bucket of water for 10 minutes. Ceanothus prefers a warm, sheltered position.

History:
Ceanothus is restricted to North America, the centre of its distribution being California. However, a number of species occur in the eastern United States and southern Canada, and other species extend south to Guatumala.

Significance:
The Latin translation of the Greek keanothos, stands for spiny plants.
