Description: The ornamental value of indigofera is its leaves and inflorescence. The flowering habit is spreading and the plant produces purple-pink flowers. Be sure to cover the plant in harsh winters as the twigs often freeze a bit. The indigofera is a nice shrub that is totally absorbed into the perennial border.
Pruning: You should prune the Indigofera back to 20 cm in March-April.

History:
Species of this genus are found in almost all tropical and subtropical regions of the world, and a few species are also found in temperate regions of East Asia. But originally the Indigofera is from the Himalayas.
Significance:
The name Indigofera comes from the Latin indigo, meaning 'the blue dye' and from ferre, meaning 'to bring forth'.
