Description: Mahonia media 'Charity' is also characterised by its sharply serrated leaf edges. During the flowering period, this Mahonia develops yellow cluster-shaped flowers with a sweet fragrance.

History:
They are native to East Asia, the Himalayas, North America and Central America. In Belgium and the Netherlands, only 1 species occurs in the wild, namely Mahogany (Mahonia aquifolium). This species is native to the area along the west coast of North America.
Significance:
Mahonia is named after B. McMahon. He is the founder of several botanical gardens and also a good breeder.
