Care:
Before planting, soak the pot in a bucket of water for 10 minutes. Give the Stachyurus some shelter from the wind to prevent it from drying out.

History:
Stachyurus chinensis is native to China and is more frost-resistant than the Japanese species Stachyurus praecox.

Significance:
Stachyurus is derived from the Greek stachys, meaning spike and oura, meaning tail. From this meaning came the Dutch name 'staartaar'.
