Folk name: Pearl bush
Plant height: approx. 2 - 3 m
Deciduous: Yes
Hardy: very hardy
Description: A hefty, semi-erect shrub with overhanging branches. This cultivar is the best known and most commonly used. This is a compact growing shrub that can also be used in a smaller garden. Can be used both as a solitary and in groups. Can also be used as a background shrub in the border.
Pruning: After flowering, prune back spent shoots to a strong bud. Every 3-4 years, prune away some of the older branches down to the base. This stimulates the formation of new shoots.
Flowering: The plant blooms in May-June with pure white flowers in clusters. The flower buds are almost round and reminiscent of pearls, hence the Dutch name.
Pitch:

Care:
Prune 20% of the oldest branches annually after flowering. Gives a natural shape.
