Flowering time: The plant blooms from September to November
Pitch:
Grows in any soil type, but prefers fertile, moist, well-drained soil. It is best placed in semi-shade.
Care:
Hedera helix 'Arbori compact' is not a climbing plant but a shrub. This hedera needs little care after planting. Before planting in the garden, it is best to submerge the pot in water for 10 minutes.
History:
The plants are native to the Atlantic islands, western, central and southern Europe, northwest Africa, and through south and central Asia east to Japan.
Significance:
Ivy is a symbol of fidelity (attaching) and eternal life (remains evergreen). It is therefore used on tombstones as a symbol of immortality. In Ancient Egypt, ivy was dedicated to Osiris and in Ancient Greece to Dionysus. The name Hedera is derived from the Greek word haerere = affirm self.
